I read a post that struck me last night.
It read something like this: Eighteen years ago tonight, would be the last night about 3000 people would spend with their families.
Crazy! 18 years later, and just like that time has passed 😔 Some newborn babies born that year that stayed without parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts or uncles are becoming adults now. Some people that survived have died from related health issues, like pulmonary problems. Thankfully, a lot of people that survived or witnessed the tragedy are still alive. Some people that perhaps lost loved ones, have moved on and remarried, or have had more kids, or moved from the city. But some still feel that day like it was yesterday. Just the thought of the gruesome events that occurred that catastrophic day, makes their hearts pound and stomachs turn.
Anyone that saw the tragic attacks that were planned and deployed that day, either in person or through the T.V. can understand and feel the sadness there was in our country on September 11th. So many hopes were shattered, dream vacations ruined, families torn apart, job lost, money wasted on clean up, recovery and rebuilding, but the most devastating loss: the many innocent lives taken that morning and those next few days to come.
First-responders risked their lives and ran into buildings filled with flames, about to collapse, then they searched for people missing under the rubble. Unfortunately more than 300 of them died as a result of the horrific event.
People that went into work that morning as they would any other day, stuck on the top floors, throwing themselves out of windows out of desperation or trying to run downstairs to safety but knew it was impossible to make it down 100+ floors.
Tourists exploring one the city's greatest attraction.
Pedestrians strolling the city on their daily commutes.*Pilots, crew members and passengers, living their last moments scared to death or struggling to put up a fight to save others.
Unnecessary loss and pain.
September 11, 2001, in my opinion, was the day we became worried as a nation and ever since nothing has been the same, but we must always continue to honor and remember those who lost their lives. ❤😥🙏 May God always protect us from both terrorist attacks and individual attacks, and protect those who put their lives on the line to protect and help others.
We will always keep those lives lost in our hearts. May their souls be free and rest in peace.
